СКАЗКА О МЕРТВЕЦЕ
Ехал ночью мужик с горшками. Ехал-ехал, лошадь у него устала и остановилась как раз против кладбища. Мужик выпряг лошадь и пустил на траву. А сам прилег на одной могиле, только что-то не спится ему. Лежал-лежал, вдруг стала могила под ним растворяться. Он почуял это и вскочил на ноги. Вот могила растворилась, и оттуда вышел мертвец, с крышкой гроба, в белом саване. Вышел и побежал к церкви. Положил в дверях крышку, а сам в село.
Мужик был человек смелый. Взял гробовую крышку и встал возле своей телеги дожидаться. Что будет. Немного погодя пришел мертвец. Хвать! А крышки-то нету. Стал по следу добираться. Добрался до мужика и говорит:
- Отдай мою крышку! Не-то плоть я разорву!
- А топор-то на что, - отвечает мужик, - я сам тебя искрошу на мелкие части.
- Отдай, добрый человек!
- Тогда отдам, когда скажешь, где был и что делал.
- Я в селе был, уморил там двух молодых парней.
- А, уморил! Ну, скажи теперь, как оживить их можно?
Мертвец поневоле сказал:
- Отрежь от моего савана левую полу и возьми с собой. Как придешь в тот дом, где парни уморенные, насыпь в горшок горячих углей и положи туда клочок от савана. Да, дверь затвори. От того дыма они сейчас же оживут.
Мужик отрезал левую полу от савана и отдал гробовую крышку.
Мертвец подошел к могиле, могила растворилась, стал в нее опускаться. Вдруг…*кукареку* …и он не успел закрыться как надо. Один конец крышки снаружи остался. Мужик все это увидел, все приметил. Запряг лошадь и поехал в село. Слышит в одном доме плач, крики. Входит туда, лежат два парня…мертвые.
- Не плачьте, я смогу их оживить!
- Оживи, родимый! Половину нашего добра тебе отдадим, - говорят родичи.
Мужик сделал все как надо, как учил его мертвец, и парни ожили. Родные обрадовались, а мужика тотчас схватили, и скрутили веревками.
- Нет, мы тебя, брат, начальству представим. Коли оживить сумел, стало быть ты и уморил.
- Да, что вы, православные! Бога побойтесь, - завопил мужик, и рассказал все, что с ним ночью произошло.
Собрался народ и повалил на кладбище, отыскал могилу, из которой мертвец выходил. Разрыли и вбили ему прямо в сердце осиновый кол, чтобы больше не вставал, да людей не морил.
А мужика знатно наградили и с честью домой отпустили.
