1. Жила в Египте девочка Мария,

В двенадцать лет ушла в Александрию,

Слыла Мария жадной до мужчин,

И все мужчины были в её власти,

Не устоял пред нею ни один.
2. Однажды, оказавшись у причала,
Где был корабль в дорогу снаряжён,
«Меня с собой возьмите! — прокричала, —
От скуки будет каждый мной спасён!»
Смеясь, мужчины согласились, дабы
В дороге веселее было им,
И в долгий путь отправился корабль
В великий город Иерусалим.
3. Был в Иерусалиме славный праздник —
Воздвиженье Честнейшего Креста,
Который обрели на месте казни
Спасителя и Господа Христа.
Мария, оказавшись в этом граде,
Решила храм Господень посетить,
Но шла она туда не Бога ради,
А чтоб опять кого-то соблазнить.
4. Когда Мария в этот храм входила
С толпою Бога ищущих людей,
Какая-то неведомая сила
Её вдруг оттолкнула от дверей.
Она опять протиснулась ко входу
И вот уже почти туда вошла,
Как в грудь её толкнул незримый кто-то,
И вновь она отторгнута была.
5. Но, так и не поняв, что это было,
Она опять влилась в людской поток,
И в третий раз неведомая сила
Марию не пустила на порог.
По сторонам сердито озираясь,
Икону вдруг увидела она,
Икону, где Мария, Та, Другая,
Была с Младенцем изображена.
6. И столько было боли в этом взоре,
Что сердце, где была одна лишь страсть,
Могло остановиться бы от горя,
Когда б к иконе этой не припасть.
Марию словно молния пронзила,
И поняла она, из-за чего
Мария, Та, Другая, не пустила
Её к Кресту, в храм Сына Своего.
7. И вспомнив жизнь свою в одно мгновенье,
Как цепь порочных адовых кругов,
Мария опустилась на колени
Под тяжестью содеянных грехов,
И распростёрла руки пред иконой,
И каялась пред Богом, не таясь,
А слёзы всё лились из глаз рекою,
С души смывая въевшуюся грязь.
8. И жизнь свою исправить обещая,
Она молила в храм её пустить,
И ей в ответ Мария, Та, другая,
Кивнула словно: так тому и быть!
И обретя в душе такую лёгкость,
Как будто невесомою была,
Мария вдруг почувствовала робость
И внутрь беспрепятственно вошла.
9. И видя Крест Страдания Господня,
Мария поняла, как милосерд
Ко всем, кто с покаянием приходит,
Христос-Спаситель, распятый за всех.
Она из храма вышла, понимая,
Что в этом мире больше нет её…
Теперь уже Мария, Та, Другая,
По-новому смотрела на неё.
10. И голос, от иконы исходящий,
Сказал Марии: «Перейди Йордан,
И если ты смирение обрящешь, —
Блаженное упокоенье дам».
И выполнила свой обет Мария:

Where the ship was equipped on the road,

From boredom, every I will be saved! ”
Laughing, the men agreed so that
It was more fun on the road to them
And the ship went on the long way
In the great city of Jerusalem.
3. There was a glorious holiday in Jerusalem -
Erecting an honest cross,
Which was found at the place of execution
Savior and Lord Christ.
Maria, being in this city,
I decided to visit the temple of the Lord,
But she went there not for God's sake
And in order to seduce someone again.
4. When Maria entered this temple
With a crowd of God seeking people,
Some unknown power
She suddenly pushed her away from the door.
She squeezed to the entrance again
And now I almost entered there,
As someone was pushed into her chest by an invisible someone,
And again she was torn off.
5. But, without realizing what it was,
She again joined the human stream,
And for the third time an unknown force
Maria did not let on the threshold.
On the sides, looking around angrily,
She suddenly saw the icon
The icon, where Mary, is the other,
Was depicted with the baby.
6. And there was so much pain in this gaze,
That the heart, where there was only a passion,
Could stop from grief
When this icon would not fall.
Mary seemed to pierce lightning,
And she understood, because of what
Maria, the other, did not let
Her to the cross, to the temple of her son.
7. And remembering his life in an instant,
As a chain of vicious hellish circles,
Maria knelt down
Under the weight of the sins of the deeds,
And spread her hands before the icon,
And repented before God, without hiding,
And the tears all poured from the eyes of the river,
From the soul washing off the stuck dirt.
8. And to fix your life promising,
She prayed to let her into the temple,
And in response, Maria, the other,
She nodded like: so be it!
And having gained such lightness in the soul,
As if it were weightless
Maria suddenly felt timidity
And inside it went freely.
9. And seeing the cross of the suffering of the Lord,
Maria realized how merciful
To everyone who comes with repentance,
Christ's reserve crucified for everyone.
She left the temple, realizing
That in this world there is no more it ...
Now Maria, the other,
I looked at her in a new way.
10. And the voice, out of the icon,
Said Maria: “Cross Yordan,
And if you grow humility, -
Blessed rest of the ladies. "
And Maria fulfilled her vow:
