Ом (санскр. ॐ или А́ум) - в индуистской и ведической традиции - сакральный звук, изначальная мантра. Часто интерпретируется как символ божественной троицы Брахмы, Вишну и Шивы, квинтэссенция Слова. А-У-М означает время, пространство и причину; прошлое, настоящее и будущее; рождение, развитие и смерть; начало, середину и конец; дух, ум и материю; три состояния сознания: бодрствование, сон со сновидениями и сон без сновидений. Четвертое состояние сознания, турия, состояние единства, находится вне этих трех и выражается молчанием (неуловимой вибрацией, следующей за звуком М).
