Emancipator (настоящее имя Douglas Appling) - молодой и перспективный музыкант. Родился 27 мая 1987 года в Нью-Йорке, США.
Впервые его трек «With Rainy Eyes» появился на сборнике «Hyde Out Productions 2nd Collection» в 2007 году. Сборник был выпущен на лейбле «Hydeout Productions», который принадлежит известному японскому jazzy hip-hop-диджею и продюсеру Nujabes.
Собственно, его первый альбом «Soon It Will Be Cold Enough» был издан на том же лейбле. Этот альбом стал собранием лучших трудов музыканта за последние три года.
19 января 2010 года вышел его второй альбом «Safe in the steep cliffs». Над этим альбомом ему помогал работать специально приглашённый японский музыкант Uyama Hiroto. Звучание альбома отличается массивными партиями гитары, скрипки, мандолины и банджо.
