Вокруг этого альбома не было никакой шумихи, как вокруг прошлого, когда все ждали чего-то "эдакого", а получили нечто странное, невнятное и разочаровавшее большинство слушателей. Потому в этот раз никто, собственно, и не ожидал, что альбом получится хорошим. Давно минули времена Яри, отгремели первые опусы с участием Линдроса... А потом был провал, контраст с которым и сыграл на руку "One Man Army", за счёт чего альбом и смотрится более удачным в сравнении с предыдущим.
Что ж, творческий потенциал коллектива можно считать практически исчерпанным. Не до конца, идеи ещё есть - но они уже не совсем энсиферумские. И что удивительно, именно этим альбом и цепляет. Он не такой атмосферный, не такой крышесносный или ураганный... Не такой "лиричный и бессмысленный" как предыдущий, но с несколькими своими фишками. Все эти уклоны в кантри ("Neito Pohjolan"), чуть ли не ирландский фолк ("Rawhide") и нечто очень стёбное ("Bonus Song", просто вслушайтесь в этот текст) - всё это хорошо, но это не Ensiferum. Этих "фишек" хватило, чтобы несколько раз удивлённо улыбнуться, но этого явно недостаточно, чтобы днями напролёт сидеть и вслушиваться-вслушиваться-вслушиваться с тучной миной у окна и мыслями а-ля "Петри-Петри, что же ты хотел нам всем сказать, сукин ты сын...". Основная же часть альбома продолжается в духе прошлых опусов - добротный материал без изысков, который можно считать уже "стандартным" или даже "проходным" для Ensiferum по одной простой причине: этим уже никого не удивить и не заставить внимательно вслушиваться, как то было раньше. Альбом сам по себе лёгкий для восприятия да и вникать тут особо не во что.
Несколько знаковых композиций на альбоме всё-таки хочется отметить. "Axe Of Judgement" - быстрое и бодрое начало альбома, которого так не хватало прошлой пластинке. "Heathen Horde" - неторопливая, но приятная композиция, в частности за счёт запоминающихся гармонических ходов. Отмечу также, что используемый почти повсеместно на альбоме хор здесь звучит уместно в отличие от некоторых других треков. "Warrior Without A War" - среднетемповая и качёвая вещь в духе "Wanderer" с "Victory Songs". "Two Of Spades" - забойный боевичок с фанковой частью посередине. Никогда не слышали Jamiroquai на финском?.. Милости просим! "Neito Pohjolan" - приятный кантри, напоминающий середину "Stone Cold Metal", которая в своё время радовала нас на "From Afar". Длинные "Cry for the Earth Bounds" и "Descendants, Defiance, Domintion" не оставили даже тени эмоций - к сожалению, печальный опыт показывает, что столь длительные композиции с намёком на прогрессивность группе никогда особо не удавались, а лишь навевали тоску и вгоняли в сон.
Напоследок хочется отметить приятный в целом звук альбома, особенно ласкающие уши ударные. А подводя итог, можно смело сказать, что разочарованием года альбом не стал, а скорее даже удивил тем, что не обернулся полнейшей катастрофой. И всё-таки момент для группы упущен, что будет дальше - неизвестно. Быть может, Ensiferum развалятся, а может, продолжат гнуть свою палку, периодически обрастая новыми стилевыми листиками и осторожно продолжая свои эксперименты. Время покажет.

There was no noise around this album, like around the past, when everyone was waiting for something "kinda", and they received something strange, vague and disappointed most listeners. Therefore, this time no one, in fact, did not expect the album to get good. For a long time, the times of Yari, the first emises were turned rags with the participation of Lindros ... and then there was a failure, the contrast with whom and played on the hand "One Man Army", at the expense of the album and looks more successful in comparison with the previous one.
Well, the creative potential of the team can be considered almost exhausted. Not to the end, there are still ideas - but they are no longer completely Ensiferum. And what is surprising, it is this album that clings. It is not such an atmospheric, not such a roofless or hurricane ... not such a "lyric and meaningless" as the previous one, but with several of its own chips. All these slopes in Country ("Neito Pohjolan"), almost the Irish Folk ("Rawhide") and something very hard ("Bonus Song", just listen to this text) - all this is good, but this is not an ensiferum. These "chips" had enough to smile in surprise several times, but this is clearly not enough for the days to sit and listen to the days to listen with a fat mine at the window and the thoughts of A la "Petri Petri, what did you want to say to us Sukin you son ... ". The main part of the album continues in the spirit of past covers - a good-quality material without deliveries, which can already be considered "standard" or even "passing" for Ensifeerum for one simple reason: this is no longer surprised and not to make it carefully listen to, as it was before. I also note that the choir used almost everywhere on the album here is appropriate, unlike some other tracks. "Warrior Without A War" is a medium-dimensional and swing thing in the Spirit "Wanderer" with "Victory Songs". "Two of Spades" - a bottomhole militant with a funk part in the middle. Have you ever heard Jamiroquai on Finnish? .. Milicia is pleased! "Neito Pohjolan" is a pleasant country, resembling the middle of the "Stone Cold Metal", which at the time he pleased us on "from afar". Finally, I would like to note the pleasant sound of the album, especially the shock's ears. And summing up, we can safely say that the album did not become disappointment, but rather even surprised by the fact that he did not turn the complete catastrophe. And yet the moment for the group is missed what will happen next - unknown. Perhaps the Ensiferum is broken, and may continue to bend its stick, periodically faster than new stylistic leaves and carefully continuing its experiments. Time will tell.
