At eight, he began to master the acoustic guitar. At the age of fourteen he already had an electric guitar. Since that time, Gary Moore learned to play standard “right -handed” guitars, despite the fact that he is a left -handed manner. Like most of his peers, he was passionate about the music of Elvis Presley and The Beatles. After he attended the concerts of Jimi Hendrix and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Gary Moore began to play blues rock.

On February 6, 2011 he was gone, on February 25, 2011, 58 year old Gary Moore was buried in the cemetery of a small village in the vicinity of Brighton (England). Moore's family decided to arrange his funeral not in Belfast (North Ireland), where he was born, but near his house in which he lived for the past 15 years, and where his children live. One of the four children of the guitarist, the daughter of Lily said that her father was:
“A man in a colorful shirt who possessed children's qualities and was a source of inspiration for many, as well as a person who cannot be forgotten”
