Книга посвящена любимому ученику Господа Иисуса Христа, апостолу любви, евангелисту Иоанну Богослову. Житие святого пересказано здесь языком современной повести, а всё, что добавлено к дошедшему до нас древнему повествованию, прямо "выводится" из него - из самих ситуаций, черт эпохи и характеров.
