Дрожат лохмотья и вериги бренчат.
Гнусит о том, что всех спешит упредить,

А тот, кто верил, был обманут, но прав!

На камне хладном тощим телом сидел.

Меж куполов над головами летел.
Глас вопиющего в пустыне звенел,
Молебен справить шла глухая толпа,
Надеясь, что не им юродивый пел,
Умом болезный, как гласила молва.
И много среди них случалось таких,
Что начинали смутно вдруг тосковать,
Ночами видеть беззаветных своих,
Тех, что пришлось на благодать променять.
И вот юродивый на паперти
Поет о том, что ложь одна не живет,
Поет, что лжец от лжи мечтает уйти,
Но не свалить ему предательства гнет.
