Брихадаранйака упанишада - одна из старейших, если не самая старая из упанишад. Она датируется 8-7 веками до нашей эры и связана с Шукла Яджурведой.
Шлока «асато ма садгамая» (1.3.28) этой упанишады является самым возвышенной прошением. Это не прошение о еде, доме, здоровье, богатстве, успехе. Это осознание своей ограниченности. Это крик о помощи: «Веди меня». От этой реальной нереальности к тому всеохватывающему и всё превосходящему. К тому настоящему, светлому и бессмертному.
