Видавший землю от края до края,
Знавший моря, покоривший все горы,
Врагов победивший, будто играя,
Премудрости тайной открывший затворы.
Незримое видел и скрытое ведал,
И нам рассказал о днях до потопа.
И славят его «Гильгамеш -сотворитель»
Мощь человечью собой представляет
И в образе Шамаша ночь покоряет.
Он с другом своим – полузверем Энкиду
Но темных дней спустилась пелена –
Энкиду верного Эрешкигаль схватила.
И горьких дум теперь душа полна,
И вышел в путь Гильгамеш, собрав все силы,
Цель - бессмертье отыскать,
От гибели своей найти спасенье.
Набревши на старца, пленился рассказом
Об Утнапишти, бессмертном великом
Продолжив свой путь, оказался пред садом,
И встретил там стража – богиню Сидури,
Совет получить премудрый желает
Сидури славная с удивлением вещает.
"Как оказался ты у дальних берегов,
Дорогу одолел с каким стремленьем?
Как реки полные сумел ты переплыть?
Глаголь! Не смея правды утаить!"
"Твои мечты напрасны, Гильгамеш!
И изначально поиски – пустые!
Прислушайся, сумей уразуметь,
Словам внемли и усмири гордыню.
Сидури слова его крепко задели.
Не в силах смириться с правдою злой,
Забыв обо всем, он опустился на колени.
В бессилии диком излился слезой.
