He was a member of three commercially successful groups: James Gang, Barnstorm and Eagles. He also gained fame as a solo artist and a fruit session musician. It takes 54th place in the ranking of the Rolling Stone magazine "100 of the greatest guitarists of all time." Since December 2011, has an honorary degree in music from Kent State University.
