Ритуалы, связанные с рождением и воспитанием детей на Руси.
В системе духовных ценностей восточных славян сохранение племени было основным понятием. Жизнь отдельного человека всецело зависела от семьи, общины и племени. Уклад жизни славян определял традиции в воспитании детей, нравственные ценности, передаваемые из поколения в поколение.
Если рождался мальчик, то пуповину перерезали на топорище или стреле для того, чтобы он рос хорошим охотником или мастеровым. Если появлялась на свет девочка, то пуповина отсекалась на веретене, чтобы девочка росла трудолюбивой рукодельницей. Пупок ребенку перевязывали льняной ниткой, куда вплетались волосы отца и матери.
Самые первые манипуляции, которые совершались с новорожденным были связаны с многими обрядами и верованиями. Кстати, христианский обычай при крещении окунать ребенка в воду встречается у многих народов, далеких от христианских традиций. Этнографы видят в этом обычае отголоски древнего ритуала приобщения человека к Космосу.
Глава семейства брал на руки новорожденного и показывал его Небу и восходящему Солнцу, чтобы жизнь ребенка была долгой. Затем младенца показывали Огню очага и растущему месяцу, чтобы малыш рос крепким и здоровым. Потом отец прикладывал своего ребенка в Земле-Матушке и окунал его в Воду. Таким образом, новорожденный представлялся всем Божествам Вселенной, всему Миру, Космосу и отдавался под их покровительство.
Потом ребенку давали имя, однако оно хранилось в строжайшем секрете. Славяне считали, что имя во многом определяет судьбу человека. Имя нужно было оберегать от злых духов и недобрых людей, поэтому у славян долгое время существовал обычай двойных имен: одно имя тайное, давалось при рождении, а другое имя было мирским.
Воспитание ребенка рассматривалось как процесс его взросления, который проходил в несколько этапов: "молодой" - 3-6 летнее дитя, "чадо" - 7-12 летний ребенок, "отрок" - подросток 12-15 лет.
Дети до 3-4 лет находились под опекой матери. Роль матери в воспитании на протяжении всего периода детства была весьма важной. Вот отчего вступившего во взрослую жизнь человека называли "матёрым", то есть воспитанным матерью.
