Depeche Mode (Депе́ш мо́д, в переводе с фр. «Вестник моды», название взято от одноимённого французского журнала.) — британский музыкальный коллектив «новой волны», образовавшийся в 1980 г. в городе Бэзилдон (графство Эссекс). Эта группа создала собственный стиль в жанрах электронной и рок-музыки и является одной из наиболее успешных и долгоживущих групп мира. Depeche Mode по-прежнему выпускают альбомы, гастролируют и звучат при этом современно, несмотря на то что группе уже более 25 лет. 2 ноября 2006 г. Depeche Mode победили в номинации «Лучшая группа» на церемонии MTV Europe Music Awards. К 2006 году было продано около 73 миллионов альбомов Depeche Mode, а 44 сингла попадали в британский хит-парад.
Примерно с середины 1980-х гг. Depeche Mode пользуются огромной популярностью сначала в СССР, а затем СНГ. Группа трижды посещала с концертами Россию: в 1998, 2001 и 2006 годах (Москва и Санкт-Петербург).
На творчество Depeche Mode оказали влияние немецкие пионеры электронной музыки Kraftwerk, звучанию которых группа подражала на ранних этапах своего творчества. Позже Depeche Mode сами оказали значительное влияние на многих исполнителей, в основном благодаря своей технике записи и новыми веяниями в работе со звуком. Несмотря на то, что они значительно повлияли на развитие современной танцевальной электронной музыки, группу обычно причисляют к альтернативному музыкальному жанру.
