(1) Пошли хлеб свой по водам, ибо спустя много дней ты найдешь его. (2) Дай часть (зерна) семи и даже восьми, ибо ты не знаешь, какая может случиться беда на земле. (3) Когда наполняются тучи, они проливают дождь на землю; а если падает дерево – на юг ли, на север, куда дерево упало, там и лежать будет. (4) Опасающийся ветра – не посеет, наблюдающий за тучами – не сожнет. (5) Точно так, как не знаешь ты путей ветра и откуда кости в беременной утробе, так и не познать тебе дела Б-га, который все создает. (6) С утра сей семя свое, и вечером не давай отдыха руке своей, ибо не знаешь, что удастся, это или то, или оба равно хорошо. (7) И сладок свет, благо для глаз видеть солнце. (8) И если человек проживет много лет, пусть всегда радуется и пусть помнит о темных днях, ибо их будет много; все, что наступит, – тщета. (9) Радуйся, юнец, молодости своей, и да веселит (тебя сердце твое в дни юности твоей, и иди, куда ведут тебя сердце твое и видение очей твоих, но знай, что за все это Б-г приведет тебя к суду. (10) И удаляй волнение от сердца твоего, и отведешь худое от плоти твоей; ведь отрочество и юность – тщета!

(7) And the light is sweet, the benefit for the eyes to see the sun. (8) And if a person lives for many years, let him always rejoice and let him remember about dark days, for there will be many of them; Everything that comes is in vain. (9) Rejoice, youth, your youth, and let it have fun (your heart is in your days of your youth, and go where your heart and vision of your eyes lead you, but know that for all this Gd will lead you to the court. (10) And remove the excitement from your heart, and you will take it off the thinness from your flesh; because adolescence and youth are futile!
