The Monkees is an American pop-rock quartet that was recorded and performed with concerts from 1966 to 1971. The group members were first gathered together in 1965 by the NBC television channel for filming in the television series on the everyday life of a modern rock band, for which the film was the Beatles “Hard Day”. The success of the series surpassed all expectations, and the participants of The Monkees (their name means “monkey” - a hint of their parody) began to release a hit behind the hit, reproducing the most superficial aspects of The Beatles music. Their most successful Singles - the humorous “I’m a Believer”, the cheerful “Daydream Believer” and the more serious “Last Train to Clarksville” reached the first line in national sales charts. These songs are often relying: for example, I'M A Believer was performed by Eddie Murphy for the cartoon “Shrek” (2001).
